Raonic lurking in the grass

— Many people have forgotten about Milos Raonic.

He’s often injured, they say. He can’t make it through a tournament without pulling out.

But Milos, when asked if he believes he can win The Championships, had this answer: “I only need 7 good days.”

He’s had two good days so far. With Marin Cilic and Borna Coric out of their half of the draw, Raonic looks like the leading candidate to keep Roger Federer from another final.

Can he do it? Raonic has done it before, beating Federer in the semi-finals here at SW19 before losing the 2016 Wimbledon final to Andy Murray.

Raonic has the one weapon that Roger cannot easily disarm: a monstrous serve. Raonic can blind you with his missiles or slice you to death out wide on the grass. He can take the racquet out of your hand, nullifying whatever magic you might otherwise conjure. If he continues to serve well, anything is possible.
