Djokovic “turns a corner” in Rome

Novak Djokovic was smiling after his loss to Rafa Nadal in the Rome Masters semi-finals.

He didn’t always used to smile after losses. But this time he knows he’s back playing at the highest levels.

He nearly took the first set off the King of Clay in a superb match on a hot windy afternoon at Foro Italico.

The previous night, he stormed back to beat Kei Nishikori after losing the first set, proving to himself and his legions of fans here in Rome that he’s regained his competitive spirit.

We may never see the same Djokovic that dominated the world a few years ago. But he’s already playing some of the best tennis on the planet.
