Rafa Nadal hoping to rebound in 2015
Recovering from injuries in 2014, Rafael Nadal looked rusty in losing to Andy Murray 6-0, 6-2 at Mubadala in Abu Dhabi. His timing was off, and he mis-hit several balls into the stands. His body language showed him downcast, surly and frustrated. He looked better the next day beating defending Australian Open champion Stan Wawrinka 7-6, 6-3. He regained confidence and swagger — part of his intimidation factor.
“Yesterday (against Murray), I made more mistakes than usual, especially with my backhand,” Nadal said after beating Wawrinka. “Today, my positioning was a little bit better and I was quicker in recovering. I did make some mistakes, but in general, I feel I played a positive match, against another tough opponent.”
“It is good to have this test and for me it is great to have an opportunity to play these two matches in Abu Dhabi and I thank the organisers for giving me this chance. The work I came to do here, I believe is done and I really hope these two matches will help me moving forward.” Will Rafa return to form in 2015?
