Magic light in Caja Magica

The Caja Magica, home of the Mutua Madrid Open, has the best conditions for tennis photography in the world.

Madrid, at an elevation of about 650 meters above sea level, often has dry air and clear sunlight that plays with the natural colors of the powdery clay on the courts, both indoor and outdoor.

Veteran journalist Christopher Johnson, who has won matches in media tournaments on the outdoor courts, calls it the “magic light of the Caja Magica”. Here are some of his photographs at the Mutua Madrid Open.
